Milk Price Calculator

As part of the celebrations to mark their 75th anniversary, South Caernarfon Creameries has recently launched a new website to showcase their history, provenance, product range and ambitious growth plans.

A key feature of the website is a Milk Price Calculator, believed to be the first of its kind in the world. The user-friendly system, specifically aimed at farmers currently supplying an alternative processor, will enable current milk prices to be compared with South Caernarfon’s pricing schedule. Milk data from the past 12 months including monthly milk production, protein, butterfat, Bactoscan Count and Somatic Cell Count will need to be entered into the calculator which will then in turn provide an estimation of the monthly milk cheque and projected annual revenue.

“We wanted to provide an easy-to-use system to help farmers compare their current pricing contract with our own and it’s even better that they can obtain such information from the comfort of the armchair. We believe it will be an invaluable tool for any farmer who is considering changing to a new processor. South Caernarfon Creameries has ambitious growth plans and as such we are actively seeking new suppliers who want to join our co-operative” explains Alan Wyn-Jones, Managing Director at South Caernarfon Creameries. “We have also recently recruited another member of our Farm Liaison team who provide an essential role as a link between producer and processor.”

The website is bilingual with both a Welsh and English version and to highlight South Caernarfon’s prestigious heritage, the website looks back on the past 75 years and includes images of yesteryear.

“We felt it important to recognise our heritage, after all we are Wales’ oldest farmer-owned dairy co-operative. There’s lots of interesting information that we have unearthed whilst researching information for the new website, for example the Creamery once produced Feta cheese and exported it back to Greece! As well as a nod to the past, we have also focussed on the present and the future, including an interesting insight into how we make our award-winning cheese.”

South Caernarfon Creameries’ new site www.sccwales.co.uk was created by Shropshire based agency Reech Media.
