Head of Cheese Production

Location – Rhydygwystl, Chwilog, Pwllheli, North Wales – reporting to Operations Director.

The Role:
Within our Production Management team, we are seeking a Cheese Production Manager to elevate our organization to new levels of success in cheese manufacturing and quality. Having invested over £30m in our factory in recent years, we take pride in our best-in-class facilities and vision to "get it right first time” and are committed to a continuous improvement culture.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the Cheese Production Department, ensuring the transformation of raw materials into top-quality finished cheese products.
• Develop and mentor department supervisors and employees, fostering a skilled and engaged team.
• Ensure strict adherence to all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, and champion sustainability initiatives within the production processes.
• Oversee quality systems to meet company and customer standards, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Develop and manage the production budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities and resource allocation strategies.
• Manage the key KPI’s of the operation to deliver optimum financial output.
• Implement best practices and enhance production efficiency, yield, and product quality.
• Collaborate to build strong working relationships and a positive work culture.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement by actively identifying opportunities for operational enhancement.
• Ensure high productivity and cost-efficiency through effective management of production operations and maintenance.

The Applicant:
• We are looking for applicants with proven track record of senior-production team leadership with a minimum of 5 years industry experience.
• BSc Hons degree in Dairy Science or related field, or similar work experience in a related industry.
• Strong financial acumen and budget management experience.
• Production software and data analytics skills.
• Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
• In-depth knowledge of quality assurance standards, food safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Commitment to driving industry-leading performance.
