Daily Post Awards Finialist
The team here at South Caernarfon Creameries are delighted to have been shorlisted for the Daily Post business awards.
We are among four businesses shortlisted for the Business of the Year (over 50 employees) category aimed at celebrating the success of some of North Wales’s large employers.
It comes in SCC’s 80th anniversary year, and follows the £13.5m investment in our new state-of-the-art cheese production and packing plant at Chwilog, under the leadership of Managing Director Alan Wyn Jones.
The investment has resulted in a 25% increase in production and several major new contracts and sales reached a record high of £45.1 million for the year to March 2018. This meant that SCC’s farming members were paid the best milk price on average in Wales for the second year running.
The winners of the Daily Post Business Awards will be revealed at an awards ceremony and black-tie dinner at Bangor University on Thursday, November 29.
Chairman of the judging panel David Williams, and Chair of North Wales Business Club, said: “As a judge it was so encouraging to see not just the high quality of entries in the different categories but also the variety of entries for the 2018 awards. There were some businesses that had featured in the past but the strong message is that none had been standing still. They had made tangible and sustainable progress over the past few years.
“Confidence was high and no shortage of investment decisions being made for future growth. Overall there was a confidence in North Wales being an area that encourages business growth and that it represents a haven both for growing and developing business in today’s difficult conditions.”
