International Awards for SCC

South Caernarfon Creameries’ once again proves that their cheese is amongst the very best thanks to five top awards at the International Cheese Awards. The Creameries’ Welsh Rarebit took ‘Gold’, the traditional Caerphilly a ‘Silver’ and Bronze, and the Matured Coloured Cheddars also took ‘Bronze’ and the Red Leicester was very highly commended at the awards, recognised as the biggest cheese awards in the world.

It is a phenomenal achievement for the farmer-owned dairy co-operative as there were 4443 entries into this year’s awards which came from 26 different countries. All of the cheeses are tasted by a panel of industry experts.

“Products are blind tasted and therefore the focus is purely on taste and quality rather than the brand or elaborate packaging” explains Alan Wyn-Jones, Managing Director at South Caernarfon Creameries. “Awards like these provide an invaluable benchmark of quality for producers. The competition at the International Cheese Awards is particularly tough as there are so many entries. We are therefore especially pleased to have taken home five awards this year. Receiving prestigious awards for our Dragon brand enables us to showcase the exceptional product range that we produce.”
