Outstanding Service Award

Mr Rhisiart Tomos Lewis was presented with the Farmers’ Union of Wales/HSBC award for his outstanding contribution to the Welsh Dairy Industry at the Welsh Dairy Show Carmarthen on 14 October. Deputy Farming and Food Minister, Rebecca Evans presented the award to Mr Lewis alongside FUW President, Emyr Jones and HSBC Agricultural Manager for South Wales, Nigel Williams.

Better known locally as ‘Dic Coed Cae Gwyn’, he runs a herd of 140 dairy cows with home-bred heifers close to the Creamery. In 1974 he was elected to the Creamery’s Board of Director’s and subsequently Chairman in 1997 which he served until 2011. Today he remains a Non-Executive Board member.

Mr Lewis has extensive knowledge of the dairy industry and has been committed member on a number of national committees over the years, travelling regularly across Britain, Europe and North America to represent the dairy industry.

He is a determined man and his contribution and loyalty to the Creamery has been invaluable to its success and continuity and he fully deserves the recognition received from FUW/HSBC. We congratulate him on his success.
