SCC Scoop World Awards

As well as celebrating their 75th anniversary this year South Caernarfon Creameries is revelling in a collection of ‘British’, ‘Global’, ‘International’ and ‘World’ awards. This year alone the Creamery has won 17 awards with a wide range of products recognised as amongst the cream of the crop.

South Caernarfon’s Dragon range features prominently in the awards collection. The farmer-owned dairy co-operative took top awards for a variety of their Mild, Medium, Mature and Vintage Cheddars at the World Cheese Awards, British Cheese Awards, International Cheese Awards, Great Yorkshire Show and Cheshire County Show. It seems most fitting that the Welsh co-operative should also win top awards for their most Welsh Cheese – Dragon Caerphilly which scooped top marks and received accolades from the Global Cheese Awards and Mid Somerset Show.

As well as their cheese, South Caernarfon’s traditional salted Welsh butter also received several awards not just for the taste of the butter but also for the outer packaging display.

“Awards provide an independent assessment and point of reference for the quality standards of a range. Awards such as these are important as the majority focus on taste and quality rather than elaborate packaging. The fact that such a wide cross section of our products have been recognised provides further, independent, verification that our entire range is exceptionally high quality.” explains Alan Wyn-Jones, Managing Director at South Caernarfon Creameries. “We are obviously very pleased that we have received such a cross-section of awards. Our focus is continuous improvement on quality and service and these awards are further evidence that we are making significant progress. This will continue as we strive to be the ‘Number One choice for Welsh cheese’. Many thanks go to our committed staff and members for all of their hard work in this regard.”
