Welsh Cheddar Burger

A Special Barbecue Burger with Welsh Cheddar. This recipe for a meaty, delicious burger also uses our Mature Dragon Welsh Cheddar which is mixed into the pork (or beef) mince so that it gently melts and melds into the burger. Pop onto the barbecue, or if the weather is inclement, simply grill instead!

400g lean minced pork (or lean minced beef)
140g fresh white breadcrumbs
80g grated mature cheddar
1 medium red onion peeled and very finely chopped
1 clove garlic crushed
1 dessertspoon finely chopped sage leaves or 1/2 teaspoon dried sage
1 egg beaten
Freshly ground pepper and salt to taste

1. Combine all the ingredient except the egg in a large bowl and make sure they are evenly mixed together.
2. Add beaten egg and form into 4 burgers (make 4 even sized balls and then press down into burger shape)
3. Allow to chill for at least 1 hour in fridge.
4. Burgers can hen be barbequed or grilled – allow at least 5 minutes cooking each side and check they are cooked through completely.
5. Serve in a bread roll with salad and chutney.
